Here you’ll find the latest updates on Crisafulli Government initiatives, upcoming grants, and opportunities, to help Mulgrave businesses grow and thrive.

The Crisafulli Government’s Small and Family Business First Action Statement is designed to put the right settings in place to support our small and family businesses which contribute $132 billion to the Queensland economy and employ more than 1 million Queenslanders.

The Action Statement is backed by over $100 million in new investment to improve the business operating environment for business by ensuring we are:

Making it easier to access government services
Offering tailored support to start, grow and thrive
Responding to red tape and other pain points
Boosting procurement opportunities.

The Crisafulli Government is committed to putting small and family business first and offers a range of grants to assist small business to grow and thrive, from start-ups to established businesses.

Grant programs currently open include:

Secure Communities Partnership Program to boost the security of your small business and deter criminal activity.
Small Business Apprenticeship Pilot Program to ease financial pressures on construction small businesses by subsidising the wages of apprentices during training.

Additional support for small and family business includes:

Cyber Wardens which offers free cyber security support for small and family businesses including online training courses, resources, and webinars.
Small Business Support Network is a group of qualified staff providing a free wraparound support service for small and family businesses facing difficult times, including confidential Financial Counsellors and Business Wellness Coaches.
Mentoring for Growth is a program offers free access to volunteer business experts who provide insights, options and suggestions relating to challenges and opportunities small business owners are experiencing in their business.

Federal, state and local governments offer grants and support to help you develop your business. Eligibility and criteria for grants and support can vary depending on if you have an established or new business, the industry you operate in and the economic environment at the time.

The Crisafulli Government is committed to boosting procurement opportunities for small and family business including through the Queensland Procurement Policy 2026 and 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Queensland Procurement Policy 2026

The Crisafulli Government’s new procurement policy represents a complete overhaul of government procurement and will make it simpler, fairer, and easier for businesses to work with government.
This new policy includes a target of 30% of all government procurement spend with Queensland SMEs.
There is also a procurement target to source at least 3% of procurement by value from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.

2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Procurement

The Crisafulli Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan has been released and all of Queensland is set to benefit from the Games, securing a legacy of infrastructure, transport connectivity and tourism, for Queensland to 2032 and beyond.
The Games supply program has opened with more than 50 Expressions of Interest packages, spanning industries from brand and hospitality to technology, logistics, and event services.
There will be around $2.5 billion of contracts awarded over the life of the Games by the Organising Committee.

Businesses must register their interest for Games procurement opportunities to be able to participate in the tender process later, and can registering interest today at brisbane2032.org/procurement.

The Crisafulli Government’s Business Assist team connects small and family business owners with the right information on programs and services to support their unique situation.

There are dedicated Small Business Assistance Officers located in each region of Queensland, including Melissa Fox who is based in Cairns and can be contacted on FNQbusiness@desbt.qld.gov.au.
